Google will soon be putting deeper security practices into place. Google will be requiring all Webmasters to purchase SSL certificates to make their websites HTTPS compliant. HTTPS sites will be preferred over HTTP sites and receive a higher Google ranking. No sites are safe from this change – so even if you have a simple blog where no purchases are being made and no information is being saved, you will still need to have an SSL certificate.
