Wave goodbye to your websites’ white space: Google and Twitter have launched buttons for third-party sites in a bid to challenge the dominance of Facebook’s “like” button. Twitter’s offering lets users follow others more easily, while Google’s expands the scope of the search giant’s “+1” content-recommendation tool. “It will be left to the discretion of site owners to decide which is most relevant for their particular site, but in terms of usability and reach, Facebook would very much seem to have the first mover advantage,” Jemima Kiss writes.  Guardian (London), The/PDA blog
