FTC calls for “do not track” registry


The FTC, as part of a report on online privacy, is backing the creation of a “do not track” registry for online users, but doesn’t yet see a need for Congress to intervene in the issue. The FTC is recommending an industry-based solution which includes baking an opt-out of tracking into Web browsers.
