Source: YouTube could get digital rights to Miramax films


Google reportedly is negotiating with the holding company that’s acquiring Miramax from Disney to obtain the digital rights to the studio’s new releases and its library of more than 700 films, such as “Pulp Fiction” and “Sex, Lies, and Videotape.” The deal could give Google’s YouTube unit a competitive edge over Netflix, Apple and Hulu in trying to develop its own rental service for new releases and ad-driven business for older films, according to this article.
