Report: U.S. e-tailing is up 9% to $32.1B

Consumer online spending in the U.S. in Q3 rose 9% to $32.1 billion, compared with the same period in 2009, according to comScore. The uptick marked the fourth consecutive quarterly increase for the e-tailing segment. Although the growth is “a fairly positive indicator for the upcoming holiday season,” the high unemployment rate could dampen seasonal shopping, said comScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni.  Reuters, MediaPost Communications/Online Media Daily
