Wal-Mart brings social commerce to Facebook


Wal-Mart has unveiled a Groupon-style social-commerce application for Facebook, offering its fans deals and discounts that kick in only when enough people have “liked” them. The first offer, for a discounted plasma television, crossed the 5,000-“like” threshold in less than 24 hours. “If the deal gets enough likes, the price drops for everyone,” the company declared on its Facebook page.  Advertising Age (tiered subscription model)
