Splinter the social Web, says a Google researcher


The social Web is broken and needs a comprehensive overhaul, argues a Google researcher in a newly published presentation that could hint at Google’s plans for a social product to rival Facebook. People have many kinds of friends and colleagues that can be divided into a handful of distinct groups, the researcher notes. To make the social Web more useful, the study argues, we need a similar ability to slice and dice our social contacts and decide case by case how much information we’ll share with a given group.  Mashable
