Twitter goes beyond geo-tagging with Places service

Twitter is rolling out a location-based feature that lets users associate specific, named places with their tweets. The Places service, which was developed in collaboration with Gowalla and Foursquare, could have profound implications for marketers and small-business owners, writes Pamela Seiple, since it will provide another front door through which users will be able to access tweets pertaining to a specific brand or retail outlet.  CNET
