Yahoo! buys content mill in bid to battle AOL


Web portal Yahoo! expanded its capacity to create original content with the announced acquisition of Associated Content for a reported $90 million. The deal is seen as a move to parry rival portal AOL, which recently made a forceful move into the original content space with the launch of Seed. Associated Content is known for using a kind of algorithmic assignment desk — using search trends to determine what content to create.  All Things Digital
