Forget about SEO — in 2010, content silos rule


Google’s star is waning, along with e-marketers’ affection for search engine optimization, writes Chris Dannen. In the coming year, he argues, we’ll see a major shift away from focusing on SEO and toward information silos, such as Twitter and Facebook, that control vast troves of data with real value to marketers. Just as print publishers once generated revenue by leveraging their vast customer databases, Dannen suggests, social networks and other online providers of content will soon be able to monetize their vast user networks without help from search engines.  BNET/BNET Technology blog
