Google debuts tool to provide captions for YouTube clips


Google, with the addition of a new tool that provides English-language text captions to many YouTube clips, has improved access to the video site for deaf and hearing-impaired users. The captions also are likely to boost Google’s reach with non-English speakers, who, via an automated tool, can have the text translated into 51 languages.  The New York Times
